HomeAugust 14, 2010 - Tillicum Centennial Celebration Jun 27, 2009
Welcome to our site. We are looking forward to a big party this August! We have been working on Tillicum's Centennial for almost a year. We will start out the day with a car show, the Kiwanis Club will be cooking hot dogs and serving a lunch (part of the proceeds will help pay for the celebration), and we are finishing up a book on the history of Tillicum. It will have lots of interesting photos of local landmarks, then and now. Citizen Corps and our local CERT Team will have booths with lots of great information. We are in the process of signing up sponsors, so make your pitch if you want to be included! We are still fundraising so we can have a Bounce House for the kids and still pay our expenses for the day. If you don't have a colorful Centennial Tshirt, buy one or more now to help us out. They will be very comfortable this summer when it gets warm and you are working outside in your yard! The celebration will be in Harry Todd Park.
We are located near Ft. Lewis, between American Lake and I-5 in Washington. Driving south from Tacoma or Lakewood, take the Thorne exit and turn right. Harry Todd Park is on the Lake with an area for swimming, picnic tables, a playground area for small kids, a ballpark, and room to set up a folding chair to watch the kids swimming. There is some open grass for picnics and a large covered area for those who want to have a large group there for parties. Contact Lakewood Parks and Recreation for information on reserving areas.

ThumbnailSept 12, 2009 We brought the community together to clean out their closets, find a bargain and make money to have Centennial T-shirts ordered. We publicized the event in the TWNA newsletter, the e-Suburban Times, and in the News Tribune. Are there... more

There are lots more photos to post here. The Centennial was a fantastic event! The car show had some real beauties on display, and trophies were handed out. The scrapbook was very popular for all.

Sept 1, 2010 Bad fire in a Woodbrook trailer park destroyed 3 homes. Everyone is safe and Red Cross is working with the families to get them clothes and school supplies. To help, contact Tacoma Red Cross to make a donation. Thanks.

Hello from the Key Peninsula. This is Cindy Worden, former Volunteer Patrol Leader. Tillicum will always be home to me and evenually we will be back. Actually I am in town quite a bit so it is like I haven't left at all. For now Adam, the children and I are doing well. I used to deliver newspapers to the Firch household. Haven't seen them in a while. Missing home but glad I have a way to check in.....

Gary, Welcome home via email! I will pass along your request to the TWNA board and Centennial Committee, the latter of which is producing a history book due out by year's end. Firch and a half-dozen folks who were born and still live here, some of them 80+ years old, are being interviewed for the book. There is, as you can imagine, just a ton of stuff happening so if you would like regular updates please send your email address to billsboathouse@qwestoffice.net. Thank you!

CERT training is fantastic and I highly recommend it. In a disaster we will know what to do and feel better afterwards knowing we did our best and helped others.

CERT is Community Emergency Response Team training - an exclusive for the Tillicum/Woodbrook Neighborhood beginning Sept.22 and continuing each Tuesday/Thursday evening for three weeks followed by a disaster drill. Sign up with TWNA President David Anderson at billsboathouse@qwestoffice.net or call 988-2536. Your neighbors will thank you for being able to assist them in the first few hours before professional help arrives!
